Description
Umbrella polypore, sclerotium, dried. Wild-harvested, hand-sorted and gently dried.
Above ground, the umbrella polypore forms clustered fruiting bodies of many small caps on a branched stem, usually on oak stumps. What is offered here is the sclerotium, the underground, tuber-like resting body of the fungus from which the fruiting bodies emerge. It is dark on the outside and pale and firm where broken. The umbrella polypore grows irregularly and is accordingly rarely available.
